Fractional Erbium Laser

What is Fractional Erbium Laser?

The Fractional Erbium Laser is an ablative laser used for laser skin resurfacing in Singapore. By removing a very fine layer of the epidermis (top layer of skin) in a controlled manner, it reveals skin that is smoother and younger looking.

What is it used for?

This laser skin resurfacing treatment activates collagen to tighten the skin, smooth out superficial facial wrinkles, and reduce acne scarring and pigmentation.

It can be used to remove skin lumps and bumps as well.

Smooths wrinkles and fine lines

Lightens pigmentations

Tightens skin

Lightens acne scars

Reduces pore size

Smooths rough skin

How does it work?

The Fractional Erbium Laser is also often called the “Er:YAG” laser and is the “gentler cousin” of the Fractional CO2 Laser. This makes it suitable for darker skin types.

Like the Fractional CO2 Laser, the laser beam of the Fractional Erbium Laser is fractionated. This means the beam is broken down into hundreds of tiny little columns of light. These tiny shafts of light penetrate deep into the skin. The skin then repairs those tiny shafts by pushing out the old damaged skin and replacing it with new skin, which brings downtime to a minimum.

The heat from the laser also helps to stimulate the growth of new collagen, aiding in the development of younger, smoother skin, and reducing the size of acne scars.

Numbing cream would be applied and left on the treatment area for about 15 mins before the procedure.

One session could take 30 minutes to an hour to complete depending on the treatment. The doctor will treat the entire face although he may concentrate on specific areas for better effect.

The post-treatment care of the Fractional Erbium Laser would be similar to other ablative lasers. There might be mild swelling post treatment but it will resolve by itself over time.
